Prospective Students

Role of the Health Professions Advising Office

All UMD students meet regularly with an academic advisor in their chosen major to assist with graduation requirements and course-related registration. The Reed-Yorke Health Professions Advising Office (HPAO) provides additional guidance and support to students interested in a career in the health professions. Through workshops, events and one-on-one advising, the HPAO team will provide:

  • INSIGHT into your chosen professional health field
  • RESOURCES you need to achieve your goals
  • ASSISTANCE with your timeline
  • PREPARATORY MATERIALS to facilitate your eventual application to professional school programs

Be sure to subscribe to our mailing list and Pre-Health Advising course on Canvas so that you will receive important announcements about advising, workshops, events and opportunities. Although you are not required to interact with our office as a pre-health student, we are here to assist you as you progress through your undergraduate years and toward your professional school goals.
