Mission

Our Mission

To prepare students for a successful application to professional school and a lifelong career in the health professions. We will continue to lead nationally by encouraging and supporting students of all backgrounds as they apply to professional school.

Our Commitment

A diverse group of HPAO students dressed in formal business attire, in a conference room. The Reed-Yorke Health Professions Advising Office uses a holistic, individualized approach to support students in their development as future healthcare professionals. We provide guidance and resources to help students interrogate and refine their motivation, and encourage them to develop cultural competency, a global perspective, and an appreciation for the broader social determinants of health.

We are committed to the development of the next generation of healthcare providers. We seek to proactively recruit, engage, and understand a variety of perspectives and embrace diversity as a pillar in the development of the 21st-century healthcare workforce. We seek to engage our students with a culture of respect and dignity while acknowledging that not everyone has been equipped with the same set of tools. We believe that every person’s voice adds value and we strive to create balance in the face of power differences.

Belonging and Community

Many student organizations on campus encourage community and belonging. See a list of student organizations related to the health professions. The Health Professions Advising Office also hosts events and speakers related to pre-health career paths.

Let’s stop believing that our differences make us superior or inferior to one another.
